Cardamom futures maintained its upward march and prices rose by Rs 40, or 2.35 per cent, at Rs 1,739.90 per kg in futures trade today on rising spot demand against thin arrivals.
Cardamom in the physical market also held strong on speculative support.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August contract remained in demand and surged by Rs 40, or 2.35 per cent, to Rs 1,739.90 per kg, with a business volume of 95 lots.
The spice for delivery in September-month contract rose Rs 21.80, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 1,646 per kg, with a trading volume of 36 lots, while delivery in July contract inched up by Rs 23.10, or 1.25 per cent, to Rs 1,864 per kg, with an open interest of 178 lots.
Traders said rising demand in spot markets mainly influenced the cardamom prices in futures trade.
