Cardamom prices rose by Rs 11.40 to Rs 1754 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions on expectations of a rise in spot markets demand.

Restricted arrival in the physical markets also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August month rose by Rs 11.40 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 1754 per kg with an open interest of 1213 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September month gained Rs 6, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 1557 per kg in 2275 lots.

Market experts said increased buying by speculators on expectations of pick up in demand in spot markets for the coming festival season boosted cardamom futures price.
