Cardamom rose further for the second straight day by adding Rs 11.90, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 1,379.90 per kg in futures trade today on rising demand in the spot market for the festival season.

Restricted arrivals from southern producing regions also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi-Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for September rose Rs 11.90, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 1,379.90 per kg, with an open interest of 1,740 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November traded marginally up by Rs 0.20, or 0.02 per cent, to Rs 1,145 per kg, with a business volume of 1,066 lots.

Traders said rising demand in the spot market due to ongoing festive season against tight supply mainly boosted the cardamom prices at futures market.
