Cardamom prices rose by Rs 18.80, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 1,738 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions after rising demand in the spot markets.
Restricted arrivals in the physical markets also influenced the cardamom prices in the futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August month contract rose by Rs 18.80, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 1,738 per kg with an open interest of 1291 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July month moved up by Rs 15, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 1869.60 per kg in 2,514 lots.
Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market amid low arrivals from producer regions led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures market here.
