Cardamom prices rose by Rs 21 to Rs 1,158 per kg in futures trading today after speculators enlarged positions, driven by pick up in spot demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 21, or 1.85 per cent, to Rs 1,158 per kg, with an open interest of just one lot.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in March moved up by Rs 15.50, or 1.43 per cent, to Rs 1,098 per kg, with a business turnover of a single lot.
Traders said increased demand in the spot market triggered by the ongoing marriage season, mainly led the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
Restricted arrivals from southern producing regions too supported the uptrend in cardamom futures prices, they added.
