Cardamom prices rose by Rs 9.90 to Rs 990 per kg in futures trade today largely on the back of pick-up in demand in the spot market amid low stocks.
Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also supported the rise in prices.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May month contract rose by Rs 9.90, or 1.01% to Rs 990 per kg with trading volume of 126 lots.
For delivery in July, its prices increased by Rs 9.20, or 0.92% to Rs 1,011.60 per kg, with an open interest of 38 lots.
The spice for delivery in June gained Rs 8.90, or 0.89% to Rs 1,008.10 per kg, with a business volume of 108 lots.
Traders said pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
