Cardamom prices moved up by Rs 1.90 to Rs 901 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick-up in spot market demand.

Less arrivals from the producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September delivery moved up by Rs 1.90, or 0.21%, to Rs 901 per kg, with a business turnover of 233 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery inched up by 40 paise, or 0.05%, to Rs 868.50 per kg, with a business volume of 743 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators along with pick-up in spot markets demand mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
