Cardamom futures prices dipped by Rs 75.20, or 4 per cent to hit the lower limit at Rs 1,803.60 per kg in futures trade today, as traders reduced their positions on poor demand in spot markets.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions in spot markets too influenced the cardamom prices at futures market here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for June-month contract tumbled by Rs 75.20, or 4 per cent to Rs 1,803.60 per kg, with an open interest of 898 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contract also plunged by Rs 73.40, or 4 per cent to Rs 1,760 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,261 lots.

Marketmen said apart from poor demand and increased arrivals in physical markets, led to a steep fall in cardamom prices at futures market.
