Cardamom prices gain 2% on domestic, export demand

Cardamom prices rose by Rs 45.10 to Rs 1,692 per kg in futures trade today on the back of firm domestic and export demand amid low stock availability.

Poor arrivals in the physical market further supported the upswing in prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for March delivery surged by Rs 45.10, or 2.73 per cent, to Rs 1,692 per kg, with an open interest in 76 lots.

Similarly, cardamom for February contract delivery rose by Rs 44.80, or 2.75 per cent, to Rs 1,668 per kg in 301 lots.

Cardamom for January delivery also moved up by Rs 40.90, or 2.58 per cent, to Rs 1,622 per kg, with an open interest in 895 lots.
