Cardamom prices extend losses by losing Rs 25.30 to Rs 817 per kg in futures trade today as speculators preferred to book profits at existing high levels.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October tumbled by Rs 25.30, or 3%, to Rs 817 per kg, with a business turnover of 97 lots.
The August contrcat shed Rs 22.90, or 3%, to Rs 740 a kg, with a trading volume of 171 lots.
September cardamom moved down by Rs 23.10, or 2.86%, to Rs 782 per kg, with an open interest of 252 lots.
Market analysts said beside profit-taking by speculators at existing prices, fall in spot market demand also led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures market.
They added that a weak trend in spot market following increased arrivals from the producing region also put pressure on the prices.
