Cardamom prices fell by Rs 15.20 to Rs 1,146.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators preferred to book profits, triggered by subdued spot demand.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June declined by Rs 15.20, or 1.30%, to Rs 1,146.50 per kg, with business volume of 17 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May shed Rs 10.20, or 0.88%, to Rs 1,148 per kg, with a business turnover of 54 lots.

Cardamom futures prices for delivery in April too eased by Rs 9.60, or 0.84%, to Rs 1,131 per kg, with an open interest of 203 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit-taking by speculators at prevailing higher prices, fall in spot demand led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures market.
