Cardamom futures prices moved up by Rs 63.30, or 4.00 per cent, to Rs 1,647 per kg today, as traders enlarged their commitments, driven by good export and local demand.

Lower arrivals from the producing regions in the spot market too influenced the cardamom prices at futures market here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for August contract was trading at four per cent and hit the upper circuit by Rs 63.30, to Rs 1,647 per kg, with a turnover of 327 lots.

The spice for September-month delivery gained by Rs 30.10, or 2.33 per cent, at Rs 1,319.60 per kg, with a turnover of 409 lots, while October-month contract surged by Rs 14.80, or 1.30 per cent, to Rs 1,151 per kg, with a business turnover of 28 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures prices to strong demand in physical markets amid low stocks positions.
