Cardamom trades higher on firm spot demand

Cardamom prices strengthened by Rs 20 per kg in the wholesale kirana market today on increased spot demand in view of marriage season against tight supplies.

Traders said increased domestic demand in view of ongoing marriage season against paucity of stocks mainly pushed up the wholesale cardamom prices. Higher trend in producing regions further fuelled the uptrend, they said.

Cardamom small chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra- bold varieties remained in keen demand and advanced further by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,050-1,140, Rs 1,165-1,180, Rs 1,185-1,200 and Rs 1,255-1,280 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper common 16,400-16,500, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 570-575 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 615-660.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1050-1,140, cardamom (colour robin) 1,165-1,180, cardamom bold 1,185-1,200, cardamom extra (bold) 1,255-1,280 and cloves (kg) 265-315.
