Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 33.30, or 2.03 per cent, at Rs 1,668 per kg today after traders enlarged their positions, supported by pick up in demand at the spot market. Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the rise in prices.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August contract rose by Rs 33.30, or 2.03 per cent, to Rs 1,668 per kg, with a trading volume of 114 lots.
The spice for July contract gained Rs 15.70, or 1.97 per cent, to Rs 1,812 per kg, with a business turnover of 68 lots, while September-month delivery went up by Rs 15.20, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 1,595 per kg, with a trading volume of 23 lots.
Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market, against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, mainly led to a rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
