Cardamom prices fell by Rs 25.20 or 1.73 per cent at Rs 1,435 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators preferred to book profits at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July-month contract fell by Rs 25.20 or 1.73 per cent to Rs 1,435 per kg, with a business turnover of 31 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June-month contract eased by Rs 17.60 or 1.22 per cent at Rs 1,430 per kg, with a business turnover of 54 lots, while current-month May contract moved down by Rs 10.90 or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,536 per kg in a business volume of 66 lots.
Analysts said, fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to a fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
