Cardamom prices fell by Rs 5.30, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 1,661.60 per kg in futures trade today owing to slack demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at the futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange cardamom for August-month contract fell by Rs 5.30, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 1,661.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 61 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September contract eased by Rs 4.10, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 1,452.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 87 lots, while October-month contract moved down by Rs 1.10, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 1,322 per kg, with a business volume of 11 lots.
Analysts said fall in demand at existing higher levels, against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to a fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
