Cardamom prices were up by 0.85 per cent to Rs 779 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, amid pick-up in domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in November moved up by Rs 6.60, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 779 per kg in a business turnover of 263 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in December contracts edged higher by Rs 5.70, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 802 per kg in 39 lots.

Market analysts said besides pick-up in demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing belts mainly helped cardamom prices trade higher in futures trade.
