Cardamom prices fell by Rs 12.50 to Rs 878.50 per kg in futures trade today owing to slackness in demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at the futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September delivery fell by Rs 12.50, or 1.41%, to Rs 878.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 66 lots.
Similarly, the spice for August delivery eased by Rs 9.10, or 1.06%, to Rs 848.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 128 lots.
Cardamom for July delivery moved down by Rs 5.90, or 0.73%, to Rs 804.20 per kg, with a business volume of 169 lots.
Analysts said fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to a fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
