Cardamom futures prices fell by Rs 22, or 1.35 per cent, at Rs 1,609.60 per kg, today after speculators booked profits, driven by slack demand at existing higher levels.
Fresh arrivals in the spot market from producing belts also put pressure on cardamom prices at the futures market here.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September contract fell by Rs 22, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 1,609.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 84 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contract eased by Rs 14.20, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 1,620 per kg, with a business turnover of 95 lots.
Analysts said apart from profit-booking, fall in spot demand at existing higher levels in the physical market, also led to a decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
