Castorseed futures decline on heavy selling

Castorseed prices plummeted by Rs 122.50 to Rs 4,550 per quintal in futures trading today on continuous selling by traders in tandem with weak spot markets.

Market analysts said heavy selling by traders, guided by weak spot markets trend mainly pulled down prices here in futures markets.  

At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, castorseed prices for May contract dipped by Rs 122.50, or 2.62 per cent, to Rs 4,550 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,291 lots. 

Near April month contract slipped again by Rs 75.50, or 1.62 per cent, to Rs 4,595 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 5,950 lots.

The most active current March contract went down by Rs 78.50, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 4,705.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,260 lots.
