Castorseed prices plunged by Rs 151 to Rs 4,980 per quintal in futures trading today following heavy selling by traders at prevailing higher levels.
Market analysts said slackness in demand and ample supply in physical markets mainly advised speculators to book profits.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed prices for delivery in July fell by Rs 151, or 2.94% to Rs 4,980 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,090 lots.
Castorseed prices for delivery in May declined by Rs 49.50, or 1% to Rs 4,912 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 7,620 lots.
Likewise, its prices for delivery in April eased by Rs 39, or 0.79% to Rs 4,915 per quintal, with an open interest of 940 lots.
