Castorseed prices tumbled by Rs 228.50, or 4 per cent, to hit lower circuit at Rs 5,495.50 per quintal in future trading today following major sell-off by traders to book profits at prevailing higher levels.
Market analysts said castorseed, which had been rising for the past few sessions, succumbed to profit-booking.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed prices for February contract to be delivered at Disa (Gujarat) plummeted to hit a lower circuit of 4 per cent, or Rs 228.50, to Rs 5,495.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,200 lots.
The March contract too dipped by Rs 219, or 3.99 per cent, to Rs 5,266.50 per quintal, clocked a business turnover of 8,950 lots.
