Chana prices fell by 0.49% to Rs 4,475 per quintal in futures trade today on buying by speculators as improved rains boosted hopes of higher sowing.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in November fell by Rs 22, or 0.49%, to Rs 4,475 per quintal, with an open interest of 32,630 lots.
October chana lost Rs 15, or 0.33%, to Rs 4,478 per quintal, with an open interest of 77,420 lots.
Marketmen attributed the fall in chana futures prices to improved rains in producing regions, which raised prospects of higher sowing.
