Chana prices fell by Rs 24 to Rs 3,117 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits at existing higher prices, driven by a sluggish demand in the physical market.
Increased supply from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan also put pressure on chana prices at futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, November chana was down by Rs 24.00, 0.76%, to Rs 3,117, with an open interest of 1,31,040 lots.
The December contract was trading lower by Rs 24, or 0.74%, to Rs 3,231, with an open interest of 87,710 lots, while October contract fell by Rs 20, or 0.67%, to Rs 2,980 with a business volume of 1,04,810 lots.
Traders said sluggish demand in the domestic market at existing higher prices against increased arrivals from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, mainly led to the fall in chana futures prices.
