Chana futures prices added Rs 7 to Rs 2,388 per quintal today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by a rise in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April rose by Rs 7, or 0.29%, to Rs 2,388 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,06,110 lots.

The May contract traded higher by a rupee, or 0.04%, to Rs 2,445 per quintal, with a business turnover of 90,570 lots.

Analysts said creation of fresh positions by speculators, supported by firm demand at the spot markets, mainly attributed to the rise in chana futures prices here.
