Chana futures prices rose by Rs 16 to Rs 2,791 per quintal today as speculators enlarged their positions on rising spot demand.
Restricted arrivals from producing region further fueled the downtrend.
At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for May contract rose by Rs 16, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 2,791 per quintal, with an open interest of 47,490 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in March moved up by Rs 13, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 2,610 per quintal, with a trade volume of 86,850 lots.
Analysts said increased buying by speculators on pick up in demand in the spot market amid limited arrivals mainly pushed up chana futures prices.
