Chana prices rose by Rs 26 to Rs 2,480 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of a firm spot markets trend.

Restricted arrivals from the producing region also supported the uptrend in the prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 26, or 1.06% to Rs 2,480 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,77,760 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in May gained Rs 17, or 0.72% to Rs 2,394 per quintal, with a business volume of 58,360 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of rising spot market demand mainly pushed up chana prices in futures trade.
