Chana prices gained Rs 6, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 2,349 per quintal in futures trading today on rising demand in the spot market against limited arrivals.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for far-month September gained Rs 6, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 2,349 per quintal with an open interest of 38,950 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in July month traded higher by Rs 2, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 2,227 per quintal in 87,540 lots.

Traders said speculators increasing their positions on rising demand in the spot market led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.

Demands from dal mills also influenced the trading sentiment to some extent, they said.
