Chana prices gained Rs 25 to Rs 4,902 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions, triggered by lower sowing in key growing areas due to deficient rains.

At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in September rose by Rs 25, or 0.51%, to Rs 4,902 per quintal, with an open interest of 96,080 lots.

August chana edged up by Rs 3, or 0.06%, to Rs 4,812 per quintal in 3,840 lots.

Marketmen said speculators enlarged their positions, triggered by lower sowing in key growing areas due to deficient monsoon, pushing up chana futures.
