Chana prices recovered by Rs 19 to Rs 3,316 per quintal in futures trade today largely on the back of a rise in spot market demand due to the festive season.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, December chana rose by Rs 19, or 0.58%, to Rs 3,316 per quintal, with an open interest of 96,690 lots.

For November delivery, the prices surged by Rs 15, or 0.47%, to Rs 3,198 per quintal, with an open interest of 144,220 lots.

The October contract traded higher by Rs 13, or 0.43%, to Rs 3,054 per quintal, with an open interest of 82,420 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on rise in the spot market demand for the festive season against limited arrivals, mainly led to the increase in chana futures prices.
