Chana prices fell by Rs 26 to Rs 4,782 per quintal in futures trade today on sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels against adequate stocks.
Improved rainfall in growing regions, which would help sowing, also put pressure on prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October fell by Rs 26, or 0.54%, to Rs 4,782 per quintal, with an open interest for 64,590 lots.
September chana declined by Rs 24, or 0.50%, to Rs 4,714 per quintal in 48,820 lots.
Traders said sluggish demand at prevailing higher levels against adequate stock availability led to the decline in chana futures prices.
They said improved rains over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which would help kharif-sowing, weighed on the sentiment.
