Chana prices moved down by Rs 23 or 1.06 per cent to Rs 2,139 per quintal in futures market today on higher arrivals from the producing regions against sluggish demand at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for July contract fell by Rs 23, or 1.06 per cent to Rs 2,139 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,27,990 lots.

The chana for delivery in June contract also declined by Rs 21, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 2,114 per quintal, with a business volume of 80,190 lots.

Marketmen said increased arrivals from producing regions against subdued demand at spot markets led to a fall in chana prices at futures market.

They said reports of higher output estimates this season further influenced the trading sentiment.
