Chana prices rose by Rs 47 to Rs 4,431 per quintal in futures trade today on hopes of pick up in domestic buying for the festive season amid thin supplies.
Traders said enquiries by millers at lower levels amid a fall in supply from the producing regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat mainly supported the uptrend in futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the October contract for chana rose by Rs 47, or 1.07%, to Rs 4,431 per quintal, with an open interest for 82,130 lots.
The November contract for chana rose by Rs 26, or 0.60%, to Rs 4,348 per quintal, with an open interest for 38,380 lots.
Traders said speculators increasing their holdings on hopes of a rise in spot market demand mainly pushed up chana futures prices.
