In restricted activity, chana futures prices declined by Rs 9, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 2,176 per quintal today, as speculators reduced their positions, driven by rising arrivals in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for current-month July contract fell by Rs 9, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 2,176 per quintal, with a trading volume of two lots, while August contract eased by Rs 5, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 2,221 per quintal, with a turnover of one lot.

Analysts said besides rising supplies from producing regions and expectations of higher output, subdued spot demand also led to a decline in chana prices at futures trade.
