Chana prices fell by Rs 45 to Rs 3,573 per quintal in future trade today as speculators indulged in profits-taking at existing higher prices, driven by a sluggish demand in the physical market.

Increased supply from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan also put pressure on chana prices in the futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, September chana fell by Rs 45, or 1.24% to Rs 3,573 per quintal with an open interest of 41,320 lots.

The October contract declined by Rs 43, or 1.17% to Rs 3,635 per quintal in an open interest of 3,22,400 lots, while November contract eased by Rs 36 or 0.96% to Rs 3,709 per quintal in an open interest of 1,03,450 lots.

Traders said sluggish demand in the domestic market against increased arrivals from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan mainly led to the fall in chana prices in the futures market.
