Chilli prices fell by Rs 114 to Rs 6,256 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions after demand declined at prevailing higher levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in October fell by Rs 114, or 1.79%, to Rs 6,256 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,330 lots.

The September contract shed Rs 78, or 1.13%, to Rs 5,942 per quintal in 12,375 lots.

Marketmen said off-loading of positions by speculators after demand at spot market declined at prevailing higher levels influenced chilli futures.
