Chilli futures prices traded higher by Rs 89 to Rs 5,148 per quintal today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand in view of the upcoming marriage season.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, chilli for December month contract gained Rs 89, or 1.76 per cent to Rs 5,148 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,555 lots.
Similarly, the spices for delivery in November contract traded higher by Rs 64, or 1.27 per cent to Rs 5,094 per quintal, with a trade volume of 1,645 lots.
Market analysts said speculators enlarged their holdings on hopes of pick up in demand during marriage season led to rise in chilli futures prices.
