Chilli, jeera prices up on fresh buying support

Red chilli and jeera prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters amid firming trend in futures trade.

Tight stocks following fall in supplies from producing belts also influenced the prices. Red chilli prices rose by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 6,900-12,100 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also strengthened by Rs 100 each to Rs 13,700-13,900 and Rs 14,900-15,200 per quintal on encouraging advices from Unjha in Gujarat. 

Traders said increased buying by stockists following rising exporters demand, mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.
