Chilli prices moved up by Rs 146 to Rs 8,330 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by pick-up in demand in the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in July moved up by Rs 146, or 1.78%, to Rs 8,330 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,300 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August traded higher by Rs 138, or 1.38%, to Rs 8,520 per quintal, with a business turnover of 4,975 lots.
Market analysts said a firm trend in the spot market on pick-up in demand mainly led to the rise in chilli futures prices.
