Chilli, pepper down on subdued demand

Red chilli and pepper prices fell by up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today due to sluggish demand at prevailing higher prices. 

Weak trend in the futures market along with increased arrivals from the producing belts also put pressure on the prices. 

Red chilli and pepper prices traded lower in the range of Rs 100-200 to settle at Rs 9,400-13,400 and Rs 28,300-28,600 per quintal, respectively.  

Market analysts said reduced offtake by local parties and stockists at prevailing higher prices mainly led to the fall in chilli and pepper prices in the wholesale kirana market.

Ajwain 17,500-23,000, black pepper common 28,300-28,600, betelnut (kg) 110-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 980-1,000, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,100-1,250
