Chilli, turmeric prices up on buying support

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying amid lower stocks.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 each to settle at Rs 6,300-11,500 and Rs 18,000-21,300 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said sentiments turned better following rising domestic and export demand and a firm trend at futures market mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Ajwain 16,000-19,500, black pepper common 22,100-22,200 betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 960-970 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,080-1,225
