Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by stockists and retailers amid low stocks.

Restricted supplies from producing regions and a firming trend in futures trade also supported the rise in prices.

Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 6,700-12,700 and Rs 11,200-15,200 per quintal, respectively.

Market analysts said fresh buying by stockists and retailers following pick-up in domestic demand against low stocks, mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale market here.

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Ajwain 16,000-22,000, black pepper common 24,300-24,500, betelnut (kg) 110-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 980-1,000, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,100-1,250

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 890-950, cardamom (colour robin) 930-950, cardamom bold 940-950, cardamom extra (bold) 1,120-1,140 and cloves (kg) 530-585.
