As on May 1, of the total 92,000 tonnes permitted to be exported, Arabica Parchment constituted 19,434 tonnes (13,191 tonnes last year), Arabica Cherry 4,444 tonnes (5,863 tonnes), Robusta Parchment (7,682 tonnes (8,205 tonnes), Robusta Cherry 37,631 tonnes (38,195 tonnes) and Instant coffee 11,895 tonnes (17,010 tonnes). Provisional re-exports stood at 10,914 tonnes as against 6,006 tonnes in the same period last year.
Coffee exporters say, Indian coffee prices have come down by 30 per cent in the first four months of this calendar as international prices have direct relation to the local prices.
According to International Coffee Organization (ICO), global exports in the first six months of coffee year 2007-08 (October 2007 to March 2008) were down by nearly 5 per cent to 46.41 million bags compared to 48.82 million bags in the same period last year.
Arabica exports in the 12 months from April 2007 to March 2008 amounted to 62.78 million bags compared to 62.84 million bags, whereas Robusta exports amounted to 32.41 million bags compared to 32.96 million bags.
