Over the last week, the rains have covered Gujarat, which accounts for a third of total cotton production in India. This will boost yields and the production numbers would be revised upwards. With record opening stocks and improved production prospects, prices will trend lower. The benchmark variety Shankar6 spot price is quoting at Rs 34,000/ candy (356 kg). Expect prices to drop to Rs 33,500-Rs 33,000/candy in a week to ten days.

Maize

Maize is trading at Rs 1,535/quintal in Nizamabad, and prices are expected to trade lower towards Rs 1,500/quintal for the coming week tracking approaching peak arrivals and ongoing stock liquidation by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markfed.
