Copper futures prices fell by Rs 3.40 to Rs 403.05 per kg today as speculators offloaded their positions due to a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for July delivery fell by Rs 3.40, or 0.84%, to Rs 403.05 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,730 lots.

August delivery lost Rs 3.30, or 0.80%, to Rs 408.65 per kg, with a trade volume of 211 lots.

Traders said fresh selling in tandem with weakening global trend mainly led to fall in copper futures prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month copper fell 0.6% to $9,043.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
