Copper futures prices rose by Rs 1.80 to Rs 455.65 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper prices for delivery in April rose by Rs 1.80, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 455.65 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February gained Rs 1.75, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 450.95 per kg, with a business turnover of 30 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures prices to the firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME), after the Federal Reserve raised its forecast for US economic growth.
Meanwhile, at the LME, copper gained 0.7 per cent to $9,910 a metric tonne.
