Copper prices rose by Rs 2.90 to Rs 402.15 per kg in futures trading today on pick-up in domestic demand amid a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for August delivery rose by Rs 2.90, or 0.73%, to Rs 402.15 per kg, with a business turnover of 18,583 lots.
Similarly, the metal for November delivery edged up by Rs 2.55, or 0.63%, to Rs 406.75 per kg, with an open interest of 1,501 lots.
Market analysts said besides a firming trend in overseas market, pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in copper futures prices.
Meanwhile, copper rose 0.5% to $8,875.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
