Taking firm cues from overseas markets and pick up in domestic demand at the spot markets, copper futures prices rose by 0.98 per cent to Rs 379.50 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, copper for delivery in November rose by Rs 3.70, or 0.98 per cent to, Rs 379.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 48 lots. It ended 0.23 per cent higher at Rs 375.80 per kg in the previous session.

In similar fashion, the metal for delivery in February traded higher by 3.40, or 0.90 per cent, to Rs 381.05 per kg, with a business turnover of 12 lots.

Analysts said reports of firming trend at overseas markets, where a weaker dollar supported the copper and shrinking stockpiles, mainly influenced the copper futures prices.

Meanwhile, copper for the three-month delivery gained 1.57 per cent, to $8,478 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
