Copper prices rose by Rs 5.75 to Rs 392.85 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, November copper rose by Rs 5.75, or 1.49%, to Rs 392.85 per kg, with a business turnover of 8,965 lots.
The February delivery gained Rs 5.50, or 1.40%, to Rs 397.85 per kg, with a turnover of 873 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in copper at futures trade to a firming trend overseas as inflation in China, the world's largest consumer of metal, cooled and Italy's Prime Minister offered to resign, improving the outlook for global economic growth.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month climbed 2.1% to $7,959.75 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
