Copper maintains an upward journey on global cues

Copper remained in demand and prices rose by Rs 5 per kg on the non-ferrous metal market today on persistent buying by stockists sparked by a rising global trend.  

Buying activity in copper picked up after the metal extended its rally to a five-month high, as inventories dwindled and the dollar's slump boosted the appeal for most of the commodities.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.8 per cent to $7,945 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap strengthened further by Rs 5 each to Rs 413, Rs 432 and Rs 393 per kg, respectively.
